Preparing for Your Hair Transplant Procedure
As the excitement builds as you near your transplant procedure, you may forget some of the many things that have been covered in your consultation and other conversations with our staff. Going into this life changing procedure, there are a few things to keep in mind.
1) You don’t HAVE to cut your hair: If you prefer to keep your hair long you don’t need to cut your hair before the procedure. Will cut your hair as necessary for a successful transplantation. If you color your hair, please make sure and have it colored 3 days prior to your procedure.
2) You may need to arrange for transportation: Depending on the type of sedation you and Dr. Chao have decided on, you many need someone to drive you home after your procedure. If are a visitor to our area and are staying at a local hotel, our staff can help you arrange transportation to your hotel after the procedure.
3) There are medications you need to avoid: There is a list of medications you should avoid taking 10 days prior to your procedure. This list includes aspirin or Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, or any multivitamins (these contain Vitamin E). Be sure to ask should you have any questions regarding your medications. Smokers should also quit smoking during this time and for one week after their procedure.

Your Appointment at Upstate Hair
We want our patients to feel at ease during their visit. In order to create the most ideal experience for all, here are a few simple steps to follow:
- We recommend booking your appointment at least 2 weeks in advance. Appointments should be held with a credit card. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice. *If you do not notify us and you do not show up, you will be charged for the appointment.
- On the day of your appointment, we recommend arriving 15 minutes ahead of your appointment time so that you can fill out any necessary forms and get settled. We value our patients time. We start our appointments on time and end on time. We ask that you do that same.
- Please turn your cell phones off and do not bring children into the office. We want this to be a safe and relaxing environment for all.
- If you have any physical concerns such as pregnancy, allergies, impaired mobility, medical conditions or have recently undergone surgery, please alert out staff to this prior to your appointment.
